Arabian Lights Dance Company
In February of 2006, Athena and a handful of her students came together to form Arabian Lights Dance Company.
Arabian Lights Dance Company, Inc. is a non profit organization whose mission is to educate and entertain. ALDC's focus is twofold:
First , ALDC's members are committed to providing all students studying Raqs Sharki (Middle Eastern Dance) with a forum to perform publicly to express the majestic art they have come to adore. They benefit from the mentorship of more experienced dancers and are able to participate at a level equal to their growing skills.
Secondly, ALDC brings the art of Raqs Sharki to the public to enlighten people as to the nature and culture of a dance form and a performing art vastly misunderstood. We bring entertainment to areas that may not otherwise be exposed to this form of cultural diversity.
ALDC hopes to create a greater understanding and appreciation for the art and culture through enjoyment, entertainment and the expression of a vast range of Middle Eastern Dance styles including:
· Egyptian/Arabic
· Spanish Fusion
· Folkloric
· Tribal and more
